Dream job status this one. Our client’s brief was exacting: high end cocktail party with dress circle view of the fireworks on New Year’s Eve.
Ever tried to book a venue with THAT view? So many venues booked and tied up years in advance. Or the ones that had us wondering really? You expect that? No confirmation whether we could or could not host the party until August/September. Hmmm. We’ll pass on that thank you.
But we scored. Big time. Securing exclusive use of the top tiers of Peter Gilmore’s world class restaurant.
Don’t know who was more excited by that news – us or our clients. It was a close finish.
From fitting out the party boy in a spectacular custom printed and made shirt (by J.H. Cutler nonetheless), featuring the party logo we designed for the invites and media wall, to having a baby sitter on hand to look after some of the younger children, to a charge bar to keep everyone’s phones photo ready, to trays of pashminas at hand for when the air got nippy, there was no detail we left untouched.
Costume bar covering every decade of the party boy’s life, a Rubik’s Cube dancefloor (our ultimate homage to the 80s), an artist on hand to capture the likeness of every single guest on the last day of the year (and a few in the first hours of the new one), and the truly fun Trolley’d crew who landed at just the right time to keep the cocktails flowing all night.
And how can it be a cocktail party at Quay without miniature servings of Gilmore’s 7 textures chocolate cake to end the night?
Can we do that again?
Actually we are. Booked again for the same venue New Years Eve 2014. Different client, different look. Watch this space!
